Hi, I was just wondering if all LH LX Sunbirds had three on the tree, or where some floor shift?

.....dont know........but my initial reaction would have been that they were all four speed, the 4cyl not being flexible enough to survive on 3 speeds.......there is no mention of a 3 speed in the uc owners manual.

ah,just saw original title of message again....referring to autos.
i answered in terms of manual due to the 3 on the tree reference.
again........dont know............bench seat option would be the consideration which again doesnt look like it for the UC which only appears to have the floor selector.

Hi Guys.

All Sunbirds, in fact all LH/LX/UC 4 cyl were only ever fitted with 4-speed manuals (mostly MC6, but very early ones had M20s) with the T-Bar Tri-Matic as an option.

The only column shift 3-speed manuals were fitted to base model 6 cyl Toranas. All other variants were floor shifts.

hi, I'm releived to know some sunbirds where floor shift. The last thing I need is the previous owner cutting holes in the floor!

Hi Guys.

There is no such animal as an LH Sunbird. The Sunbird was released in 11/76 to replace the LX Torana 1900 (9/77 for the Sunbird Hatch release). So early LX 4 cyls were just 1900s as well.

In LH they were just Torana 1900 & all LH 1900s had round headlights like L34s & LXs.
