Has anyone had problems with Septone aerosol Stone Shield frying up ?

I'm trying to paint the bottom of my fuel tank with it and got a major fry-up in a couple of places. Plenty of primer on first but I didn't use Wax and Grease remover mainly because I had the same problem on something else a couple of weeks ago with a different primer, same story, only in a couple of spots, and that time I went over the primer with Wax and Grease Remover.

Is the Septone product sh!t and should I try something else, should I use a certain primer (on the can it just says something like 'appropriate primer', or is there some trick to using this sh!t.

I have never used it before. Usualy I use brush on Sound Deadener but I thought I would go for the smooth look on the tank this time.

Thanks.

Never used the aerosols before, are they water or solvent based?

This time it was aerosol Rust-Oleum.

Last time it was SLCS or whatever it is etch primer out of a gun.

I was thinking I'll sand the affected areas (only maybe 5% of the bottom of the tank), primer again and then put a topcoat down before I try there again ?

Interesting.

Isnt Rust Oleum like furniture paint or something?

I would be more inclined to try a primer that is definitely compatible, depending on what you can get locally, perhaps even Septone 1k etch in a pressure pack?

Cheers.

Rust-Oleum make metal paint also, hence the name.

Bunnings sell it, it's cheap too, like $10 a can. But many people say it is good quality.

Thanks mate, I'll see if I can get some down the road here or get some in Bundy next time I go.

I've got some acrylic black Septone in a spraypac I bought for guide coat. That's why I was thinking I could try a topcoat first. I might give it a little try tomorrow just for the hell of it..

Yeah give that a go, see what happens.

I rarely use pressure packs except for little brackets and stuff i make up for the dungers, so this is all a bit out of my knowledge base.

Cheers.
