Riverina gears up for hard-charging Revfest

The Riverina Revfest, scheduled for the weekend of 28-29 October in Wagga Wagga is promising to be one of the biggest highlights of the 2006 motoring calendar.

Sponsored by Street Machine magazine, the action-packed family weekend offers entrants and spectators an action-packed weekend of cars, bikes, entertainment and lifestyle.

With over 8000 spectators through the gates in its maiden year, last year, and double the action planned for the 2006 event, the Revfest team are confident of hitting the 10,000 mark in October.

For entrants theres the Auto One burnout competition and Wagga Radiators Donut competition on a purpose-built 30 x 15m burnout pad centre-stage at Wagga Showground. The locals boys are all pumped up to take on the massive influx of hard core burnout legends from Sydney and Melbourne.

The Shannons street car Show and Shine pulls some of the hardest-hitting Pro Street cars from all over Australia with standouts include the Forza Racing team, Mark Yardies blown and injected big block WB ute, Ryan Pearsons tyre melting blown LH Torana and a ton of extra-tough, road-going talent.

In the Elite department the highlight of the show is the all new House of Kolor custom car and paint expo with daily airbrushing demonstrations and interviews with Australias top Elite car owners. Highlights of the show will include the Former Summernats Grand Champion winning father and son Fitzpatrick team with their amazing Datsun 1600 and FC Holden, Benny Gatts candy apple super sled and millions of dollars in Australias top House of Kolor and Elite cars.

On the dyno Sydneysider, Mark Hayes, is set to return with his 600CI LC Torana to defend his 1260HP run from last year and for low-speed, high-fun action theres heaps of grass events to keep the wheels spinning and the laughs rolling.

For sports truckers, low-riders and those into music and fashion Freestyle magazine will be adding a new dimension to the event with a low-rider competition and seminars on how to build the ultimate sports truck and ground hugger.
With the Saturday night program now extended to 10pm the Revfest team has added a ton of extra entertainment with Jet Cars, Smash Up Derby, fireworks, and the always popular Ford versus Holden engine blow-up contests.

The biggest news of all is the huge police-approved Sunday Meguiars Supercruise that will run right through the main street of the city. Revfest entrants will be able take part in Australias only Street Machine Supercruise that kicks of Sunday morning and is led via police escort around the Riverina countryside and back up through the main street of town to the Showground. The new Police Commander is applying for a dispensation to allow highly modified street cars on the cruise (that means blown and tubbed cars)!

Just like last year one lucky spectator gets to win their very own street machine as a lucky door prize. This year its a 1976 LX hatchback Torana, complete with Weld wheels, V8, Autometer gauges, four speed, nine-inch diff and a years insurance from Shannons (you need to be there for the draw on Sunday to win).

Prizemoney and/or trophies will be paid for the top 10 places in the burnout competition in addition to over 100 trophies on offer over all events.

The Street Machine magazine Revfest is proudly supported by Shannons Classic Car Insurance, Midtown Auto One, Meguiars, House of Kolor, Wagga Radiators and Car Air Conditioning and Freestyle magazine.

Competitor entries are limited and with over 10,000 people expected over the weekend it will truly be one of the biggest events on this years Street Machine calendar.
