Hello to all who read this post,

Whilst restoring this LH GPAK ( JUNIOR ) this hand written actual date of manufacture was discovered on the paint stripped steel outer radiator support head light panel.

It shows the last 6 digits of the vin 468200 and a build date of 19/2 which is consistant with the ADR tag stamped as 2/75.

Have a look at your Torana to see if its visible or when you paint strip look for this handy source for the cars build date.

This type of visible written date etc is also found on other model HOLDENS. I have a 1960 FB that has the cars colour written in a similar spot in Yellow crayon that is still visible to the eye 50+ years later.

So im a firm believer that crayon / texta ?  was the case with the Torana and as the ravages of time slowly wear at the black painted surface around it the writing acts as a mask hence the metal under the writing being so good it highlights where it was written a shadow if you like

This is how i reinstated the script after this LH GPAK was painted .

I had a 74 HQ GTS Coupe painted in Yellow Dolly that had the word Dolly written in yellow crayon down low on the black firewall.

Thanks for the chip...but seriously you wouldn't know unless they were side by side and that impossible except for here.

The fact that it's back on there is good enough for me.

Demonstrating the existence of it and not the plausable repro differences in writing styles size and proportion its the same.

Your car is trying to tell you that you missed its birthday. :)

I had an Aussie 57 Chevy 4 door and after the paint was stripped off the firewall l discovered the words Cuban Russet written in crayon.
When l went to the paint supplier with the paint codes it turned out that these were both Holden colours.
Sounds like l should hand strip the radiator support of my LH when the time comes.

Here's my old '57's firewall, had never been painted. You can see Shannon under the body tag meaning Shannon Green an FC/FB colour. This one was Pagewood assembled.

This was commonplace on Holdens throughout the 50s, 60s & 70s. On my EH you can see the words Winton/ Fowlers thru the grille, on the radiator support panel.

On EK & earlier it was written on the firewall & the crayon 'weeps' thru the paint to become visible.
