Hey all.

Cant work this out. Maybe someone with more experience can offer some direction..

- VT series I roller motor (standard as far as I know) in HQ, from unknown origin

- Car runs but doesnt rev well, feels as if its timing is not advancing (always been this way since I've owned it).

- Electricians diagnostic tool wont let him in as VT, but as VS (ecu appears to be VT style, 2 x punk & 1 x blue connector) - yes I know the VS series II is same donk as VT series I

- The diagnostic throws 12 fault codes: 29 EGR position fault, 28 PSA circuit shorted, 27 PSA circuit open, 26 IAT signal unstable, 25 IAT signal voltage low, 24 no vehicle speed signal, 23 IAT signal voltage high, 22 throttle position sensor voltage low, 36 vacuum leak, 32 MAF sensor out of range, 31 theft deterant signal missing, 57 injector voltage monitor fault

- ECu has no conventional serial number but a very faint holden sticker that says 'remanufactured' with a serial number 1227808 - which appears to be a VP ECU serial number (ECU doesnt look like a VP ECU)

- Memcal has a hand written sticker on it that says "blank".

If you can understand that, then any suggestions appreciated.

Sounds like few weird issues if all that comes up & it's running in limp mode.

Partly think few of those fault codes are earth related, possibly earth at back of head not connected or broken wire.

Theft signal is really weird one, assuming memcal has it disabled if memcal has been done.

MAF sensor hooked up?

Auto or manual?Speed sensor hooked up or missing?

vs series 3 have 3 plugs, all vt v8 & v6 so double check that info to be sure. One thing pinouts on ecu plugs can be different for v8 & v6.

Other thing to check is if it's actual sequential & has airflow sensor like vt or vs series 3 or is last of non roller cam engines more like the vn-vs cars.

Check thermostat housing,if it is o-ring type probably vt engine, has less vacuum lines when compared to vn-vs manifold.

Check those things out for some homework, let us know how you go?

The electrician checked the earths and found them to b good. The motor is definitely the roller cam version as I've had the manifold off...

Maf, Spoze that's the plug just before the throttlebody n that's there.

I've sent the ecu n memcal to v6 conversions to check out so should get some answers soon. Pat at b6 reckons he doesn't run the vt without a bcm or simulator any more as there is too many troubles, so it seems I'm to wire in a simulator...

My car is the original th700 auto that came with the commodore

They have pissy earth wires in harness from factory, helps troubleshooting just to add some proper ones in long run.

vt have lengthened wiring after throttle body to air temp sensor clipped into airbox, airflow meter in between airbox & throttle body.

Sometimes if plugs are loose or bad connection can make it run like crap.

Stick hand near throttle body unplug/plug the tps & other sensor, hopefully quick fix.

Mine ran fine no bcm or simulator though would not start at all if airflow meter wasn't plugged up,mine kept blowing fuse for it..annoying issue to fix.

Other thing was no speedsensor would pop up a intermittent fault or occasionally stall engine when stopping.

If yours has proper vt auto bellousing is the round type, cant fit vr-vs auto or will be faults galore.

Weird that no speed signal pops up,that should be there on auto connected up & easily fixed.

Who did wiring harness?

You got any pics of engine bay?
