Ive just finished the painting on my engine bay

Being a brisbane built lc gtr the colour is i guess charcoal not black and is semi gloss at best, to keep it looking original.

my question is, its painted in acrylic so is there anything i can put on the surface to protect it from light scratches etc ?

Im thinking that if i put clear over it , it will make the surface to glossy so is there a polish that can be applied that wont change the overall gloss?

This is a pure guess so please forgive me if it appears I am talking through my arse.

Do they make a satin finish clear? and if so would it protect? NFI...

Cheers

They did supply me with the flattening additive to take the gloss off the black which worked a treat

Ive never asked my panel shop for a satin clear, hmm maybe i should.

I'll put some pics up by the weekend

Yes there is a matt clear available and Yes you should be able to add your flattening base in your clear the same way you did with the black.

Its not going to add anymore protection to it though, particularly acrylics the only way to keep it looking good is to try and avoid it getting dirty, polishes normally don't fare too well on satins so prevention is going to be the best way.

Thanks pete.
So i guess adding flatner to the clear is pointless
I only painted the engine bay 4 days ago and the day after i happened to brush some dust with my finger and noticed i left fine scratches.
When is the paint nolonger considered green and fully cured?
