i was wondering if you guys can help me out with putting a 253 in a uc. because i'm only on my P's, vic-roads requires that i can only have 3.5 litres of engine to every ton of car. 253's are 4.2 litres so that means my car has to be at least 1200kg. well, thats acording to my maths, which isn't all that flash, and the problem is i cant seem to find anywhere in my workshop manual, or anywhere on the net how much my torry weighs. i was also wondering for the people that have already done what i'm wanting to do, whats required to do it all legally because uc's didnt come standard with a v8. do they bolt straight in? do i need engineers cirtificate etc? cheres...

i recently put a worked 253 in my gf's UC,
easy as, just like a Lh-lx, no dramas, everything fits, and bolts straight in, no clearance isues, standard diff and tail shaft goes on and hold up well, easy as, same crossmember fits, extractors are easy to come by.
Its perfect:rockon:
Its all good!
Mod plate requires v8 springs and V8 booster (or good 6cy boosted brakes)
as for the vic laws no idea, if ya want a v8 go for it, as long as ur feeling lucky.
a 6cy uc apparently weighs just over 1ton. and a v8 is 60kg more.
but aquarding to specs a 6cy uc is about 1150kg
253 are weapons ready to be unleashed

There was a recent thread that mentioned UC's coming from the factory in WA with V8's. Myth? Legend? who knows but if you could prove it you shouldn't need an engineers report.

the v8 from the facotry in uc's is from what i know a myth.
to put the 253 in, you may need to comply with engineering regulations down in victoria.
I know here in nsw it reuire engineering.
