All

I am up to installing the fuel tank in my LC. I understand that the choice of sealant is black mastic ( which I have used to seal windscreens before ) as it stays soft.

However, I am having some difficulty finding the same product.

What does everybody suggest? Selleys black windscreen sealant? D Mastic? Sikaflex polyurethane windscreen sealant?

Thanks in advance

Glenn

Use mastic.

Sikaflex it in and it will be extremely hard to remove if required in the future.

It doesn't really matter Glenn...as long as it seals and stays soft so you can get the tank out if you need too..

hi....I'd be thinking the tank is NOT insulated from the body, as the tank level sender unit needs an
earth return.
i.e. the 12v comes thru the fuel gauge , to the tank sender unit, then thru to earth.

Butyl mastic is a good product, I have used it a few times at work to seal sleeper cabs onto truck cabs.

I usually use Bostic brand black non hardening mastic from Bunnings, about $6.99 a cartrige or something.

Cheers.

Thank's for that Col,

I was thinking about a Spark and the Fuel Ideas.

The tank is still bolted to the floor, but there has to be sealant between the tank and the floor of the car

cheers
