After a few months deciding whether I would join or not, I decded too. (I heard that Commodores, aren't really favoured here, so I hope you go easy on me lol)

Let me introduce myself. My name is Ryan, I'm 20 and I live in Newcastle. I'm a massive fan of the LJ. The XU1 is one of my favourite cars.

These are our 2 VLs.

The Gold SL is mine.

It's just a stock RB30E 5 Speed, so nothing too special.

The Calais is dad's.

It's a worked 4.9L. Gotta love that V8 rumble.

We also have a HR wagon, with a hot 186, but as it's been sitting in the shed for the past 17 years, there's no photos of it.

Anyway that's just a short description and I hope you like the VLs. :)

Welcome aboard Ryan, you've got two very nice Commodores in the family. I particularly like your Dad's car, love the V8 calais. Newcastle is a city of holden heritage. If you get the chance, come along to Toranafest on 17/9/06 which is held in Newcastle, regards Mick. :D

Ryan the details are on the front page of gmh-torana.com

The venue for this year has changed slightly with us moving up the road a little further. It is still along Wharf Rd, but entry is through the top carpark for those that were there last year. The main show area is on the grass which means that ALL Entrants will be on the grass!!

It's run by the Hunter Valley Torana Club and it is a great day, heaps of great torana's and the proceeds go to charity. You've gotta be there!

Welcome to the forum Ryan. I hope you enjoy your time here.

Of all the Commodores the VL would be my favorite, but it would have to be a stock looking VL (non Calais) wiht the 4.9 V8. Your car and your dads look pretty neat to. Love the rims on both cars. :spoton:

Im a bit of a fan of v8 commodores too.
Here's some pics of my vx 5.7 6spd i sold 15mnths ago.
I bought it new as an exec which was optioned up with the 6spd, power windows, ss front & side skirts, rear II wing, then i fitted 18" anz 235 40, pedders springs,a couple of eng mods and converted the 3.46:1 to lsd.
It comfortably cruised at 220 without any effort and best fuel figure of 8.5lt/100 between perisher and central coast.
Kind of miss it now as it was my weekend car but i gave it up to get back into torana's again

Man i love the VL's ... if only the coppers werent so brutal on them!

As a non torana car owner , only thing i can say about this forum it bloody rocks and is very useful in getting information.

As long as we keep the other 80% P plate wearers who drive the commodores away from the forum it will stay a awesome forum !

Now lets get down to basics Ryan since you young and need training!

Rule 1 : "Horsepower isnt measured on the parcel shelf , but on the black stuff underneath the wheels!"

lol that's a good rule.

Unfortunately, it doe have a sub on the parcel shelf.

I'm personally not really keen on loud sound systems. It was in the car when I got it.

Oh and thanks for the warm welcome guys.

:)
