Do people usually use sealant on their intake manifold gaskets? I have a vague recollection of using the old aviation form a gasket but its so long ago I can't remember.
It's on a BBC and when I pulled the old one off it seems the engine builder has used a thin smear of silicone around all the ports on the head side of the gasket.

i've always used a light smear of instant gasket on both sides of the gasket, mainly because its a pain in the bum to take off again if it leaks... with the exception of a holden 6 :P

I use Loctite 515 on them when I can afford it.

I just used that blue loctite stuff around the water ports, both sides of the gasket, front and back (V8).

I would too but Holden never offered the 572 option... Heck the damn thing doesn't even have any factory Chevy components.
