Black strip on rear of torry

just wondering if the black strip of paint on the back of lh-lx (and uc??) is how it came out of the shop or was it only for certain models cos the majority of torries don' have it?

LH SL/Rs and LX SSs? Just guessing don't quote me on it. It wasn't on any SLs from standard and I don't think LX SL/Rs ever had it

and I just looked at UC Hatch photos (i think all of these are the same as sedan rear ends).
There's one with a chrome strip and the black on the inside of the chrome strip is set back, there's body colour all around and there's an LH SLR/LX SS style paintjob on some. I cannot tell you which belongs to which model but maybe Keith, Peter or Nathan would be able to help you out with that one.

all LH SLR's are black at the back and the LX SS as pictured. UC fairly sure it's SL and SL/E

*thinks* Peter's SL has a chrome strip with the set-back black panel, what do you think the SL/E would look like? just normal body painted black like in the lower section?

L34 is different again, no black below the bumper bar, no black sills under the doors, and no black along the bottom of the rear quarter panel, but black above the rear bumper.
LH SL/R's have black ass, that extends down and goes along the bottom of the rear quarter and the door sills. On the SL/R models, excluding the 5000, the black continues around the lower front apron. On the 5000, it is only the radiator inlet that is black just above the chrome smile.
LX SL/R 5000's are different again, no black ass, only the spoiler insert with the loud SLR5000 paint out. Black on the bottom quarter panels in line with the bumpers that goes right round the bottom of the car with the loud SLR5000 stencil/paint out on the doors/rear spoiler. Don't know how the standard LX SL/R was painted.
A9X's NFI.

Also LX SL/R 5000's have the black bonnet but in gloss, again, don't know about the other LX SL/R's.

LXs never had a black arse as far as I know. Just thinking... should I make up a paintjob guide for the Tech Articles section?
I have nearly 2,000 photos mainly LH and LX... I may as well help people out. Just gotta find out what paintjob is original but I would have an awesome picture reference

Torana SL and Sunbird SL/E had the black back with the chrome strip Sunbird SL had black without the strip.

I assume that the LX SL/R sixes and 4.2's had no black anywhere bar around the windows. Was there such a beast in the LX range? Just never seen an LX SL/R, well not that I can remember anyways.

LX SLR only had black around the windows and chrome trim.
