G'day Again,
Just interested. How many members of this forum have LX SLR 5000's. Place your name with some details of your car so I can establish how many we have.

Sort of on topic, the CAMs homolgation sheets list an SS 5000. Is this the A9X, or something else entirely? I've always found it a bit curious.

They are the very late 308 SS's. Not technically an A9X but..........

So if A9X's are included then that pic of Kevs also has HSVGTS (front hatch) and Eselar (rear sedan, behind GML-31) in it.

Hi Grant.

Isn't an SS 5000 just any SS 5 litre, I don't see why it has to be a late one.

OK, one post and 8 replies, only 3 have anything to do with original post.
Make that 9 replies(this one incl) and 3 legit responses(in my opinion of what I call legit anyways). How typical is this, why watch TV for a larff ????

^ LX8VD69 -> LOL.

I reckon A9X's shud be included, but it isnt my post ... hehe.

I will hopefully find a pic of mine and post when time is less valuable.

It was just a curiosity thing as I own one, that's all. Maybe we could start a post & include all models if the administrators want to set it up. This way we would be able to see what % of tories forum members have.

From my observations the list would be pretty small for forum users. Happy to be proved wrong. Off the top of my head.

Finally found some spare time to add mine and BACK to the topic:-

Name is Pallbag(aka Paul). Have owned it for about 3 years. Mild cam, roller rockers, extractors, widened GTS rims. Absolutely love weekends when I can take it out and give it a run. Got some hotwires in the shed that I will put on one day soon.

An SS 5000 is a 5l SS. You could race anything you liked, you could race a Sunbird if you wanted, provided it was holologated. The A9X's ran under SS5000 rules in 1980. Grice ran one and so did Janson.

Didn't they have to race them without the front and rear spoilers under these rules for some reason? I seem to recall Grice and Janson racing the A9X's against Commodores and Falcons and none of the cars were allowed to use spoilers (until Bathurst that year).

Hey Hux,
Man i thought it was a pretty straight forward question, talk about hijacked!!!!
Anyway you know mine Hux but for everyone else see below or click on my WWW button.
May 77 built LX slr5000 genuine and about 98% original including all the paper work from the day of sale June 1st 77. Not running the original wheels and caps but have them in the shed. also its unrestored except for a bonnet and nose cone respray in late 80's (stonechips repair).

Hey VISTA was mine included in your 2x white?? :spoton:

Regards
Duck05

Terry,
as Red said, the SS5000 was the homologated version of the 308 SS (remember, they're 308's not 5L engines...hehehehehe).
You could race anything, as said, so long as it wasn't over and above the homologation level.........so no brake conversions to make em bigger than A9X etc. That sort of thing.

You could race a Sunbird, but you could only upgrade it to A9X/SS5000 spec.

Ahhhh, the days when you actually had to sell the cars to be raced.......

^ that aint correct, but prolly needs a new post if you want to talk CAMS homolgations. You could and still can enter an SL as an SL/R 5000, no questions asked, same with LJ S's and LJ XU-1's.
