I heard some interesting news today regarding the guard flutes on an LC GTRXU1. I was told that the flutes were never painted black on LC or LJ GTRXU1.

Does anybody have any photographic or editorial evidence to back this up ???

I am very interested to know either way !

just looked in "spotlight on holden torana LC-LJ" and NONE of the cars have blacked out flutes.

Picked up 2 new ones from the dealer Luke and all were colour of the car.

Torry nut, as the others have confirmed, they were only ever body colour.

Well someone should tell Biante!

There latest 1/64 models of the LC GTRXU1 in yellow dolly and Purr pull both have their flutes blacked out!

the biante 1;18 and 1;43 scale models are same colour as the body. Just the 1;64 that are painted black even the LJs probally so you can see the flutes on the small models.

I think there were 4 warrigul black 73 bathurst cars. and for the rest DONT KNOW :spoton:

One of the Black cars is in NSW, is the other in NZ as a couple are rumoured to be? l understand 6 in total were built.

Blacking out the flutes was one of those 80's trendz, just the same as metallics were out and solids colours were in.

Its funny how the GTR's had body color flutes and the HQ,J,X had black.

mondie you are correct 6 black ones built as ordered by bob janes southern motors , 3 with black interior and 3 with ash grey interior ,

possibly the ash grey interior ones went to NZ ???
