With the stock plastic intake it would have fit fine under my bonnet....when I went to the Edelbrock I needed to do some bonnet cutting of course.

thanks Jeff, i know it will fit, i just need to know what the clearance is to the skin not the reinforcement. i have a few plans and need to know what the gap is before i start. don't want to buy engine mounts only to find out to do what i want  i will need to custom make mounts.

Off the shelf mounts keep everything very close to the crossmember

If you think your going to need more room your going to need more than just custom mounts

They are pretty low. Fits easily under the bonnet in the LJ too.

With tuff mounts and an ls3 I have about 30 mm to the inside of frame . That's from the highest point on the manifold not sure about throttle body but I had more room there than the manifold. I only know because a magnuson blower is 40 mm higher than standard manifold and without fitting a scoop(which I 'd never do) I would not be able to squeeze it in without major mods to x member and steering rack.

I've got at least 25mm to bonnet frame.

That's LS1 with tuff mounts.

You could always check into the other blowers out there too, for comparison sake... Edelbrock, Kenne Bell, etc. (I used a Kenne Bell on an LS1 and was really happy with the combo)

With tuff mounts & a Harrop 112 blower with intercooler plenum it fits without poking through, I had to cut a rib out but. Engine's been out 4 over 2yrs so I can't exactly remember how close.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure how you got firewall clearance with the tuff mounts?

The tuff mounts push the motor right back in the bay and that Harrop blower protrudes 36mm past the back of the block.

As far as I can tell, it would require the cutting back of the top lip (all the way back) and the deleting of the heater fan box to make room for the rear pulleys and belt.

Yeah mate, a lot of dick'n round went in2 getting it in there...it wasn't as if I just brought everything off the shelf & waved a magic ratchet & it all fitted perfect haha.

I would guess I had the engine in & out at least 10 times, sometimes with the trans on & sometimes with it off while I was doing it.

If I can find a few pics ill put them up but don't think Iv got any. I shaved the drip rail, then shaved a lil more, then shaved the firewall bump flat, then re-drilled the tuff mount hole 20mm-25mm so I could get a bit more angle... then just kept massaging it until I was happy with the angle where it all sat. Then I just used the xmember that came with the car, spaced up the mount a lil & bang.

....then pulled it all out & left it 4 ages :(

Cheers, Nig.

This is how it 1st went in...
photo-4.jpg
Then this is how I moved the engine a little more foreward...
photo-6.jpg
& you can sorta see where Iv removed that hump in the firewall.

Hope this helps mate. I know that you were after prob a shot from under the bonnet but that's pretty much all Iv got I think.

Cheers, Nig.
