is it possible to adapt coil overs the rear of a torry with std suspension mounts?

or do the towers need major mods to fit?

How weird! I was just going to post up a question about coil overs.

One of the questions was about how much modification needs to be done so thats already been covered.

I was also wanting to know generally about the benefits of coil overs. How much is there to be gained by going to coil overs?

Cheers,

i want the benefit of easily altering ride height, and a greater option of spring rates. (im assuming cheaper springs too)

or in the least, are there some really short stroke shocks that will fit in?
maybe something from a commercial, heavy valving and they are pretty short from memory?

I would say they need drastic beefing up.
The shock mounting on the axle housing arent designed to take the load of the car.
I think Mcdonald Bros can help you out though, even may have the parts for you to weld on the diff etc. The top mounting is basically a cross bar which welds accross from one chassis rail to the other.

The first three pics is basically sheet metal to cover a cross bar which will later be welded in (cross bar not in pics) as the cross bar had to welded in a little higher than narmal so this section was cut out and this fabricated sheet metal cover (welded in) is used to fill up the hole basically.

its not a cheap exercise to do! I was looking at doing this mod to my hatch, but as its going to be more of a street car than a race car didnt think it would be worth spending the extra $$$$$. A good set of aftermarket shocks and springs would do the job fine, unless its a race car.

I think the most expensive part would be the shocks and springs. The rest is material/tube steel.
