The festival of Sporting Cars is holding a 16th of November 2014 event at Sydney motor park,
Col ( rally red ) grant -Agent 34(me) and steve ( aka dodgy and his young bloke mini dodgy although he's taller than steve so that make steve mini and the young bloke maxi ) AAAAAnyway
they run and even call " come and try " and it's for any one who is interested in
" running a car around a race track" - it's not racing or getting close to anyone else where by your 40 yr old original rear quarter panel will be trashed, it's not like that at all !
the day runs like this;
- scrutineer- no sweat as your not racing and you only need a helmet - overalls and shoes
- drivers brief - you listen and then they take the " come and try aside" for a special briefing
- time with the masters in a car - they put you with 4 others in a modern car and " fling you round the track " for about 15 laps
- then you have a 1 on 1 with a master in your car and then change after 4 laps and you drive - however i stayed in the driver seat and did the whole 8 laps with him geeing me on to go faster !
- they you do regularity practice on your own and this is a full 9 or 10 lap event
- then you do the actual regularity race ( regularity is not a race - it's a race of consistency against a nominated time ) if you too fast you get penalised and if you go too slow from your nominated time you get penalised less
- then you do the final regularity event as per above
So for all you wanna bees , haz beens, arm chair racers, dust collecting GTR XU1 owners, channeling peter brooock through your missus wigi board or just plane " hanging onto the past " get your stinky $ 3500 dollar new XU1 out there and have a great social day and get a few heat cycles through that F#%$kin 2 dollar JP block.
Who cares if the car is matching or not, or in fact a re bodied " torana S with special GTR AND XU1 running parts form different year models" with a LC body converted to a LJ " because the bloke felt like it at the time" LOL !
On a serious note,it's a great day and there is a time and a place for everyone in this event. It's a walk up start - drive your car to the event and home.
The event is $190 and a ASA license for the day.
G
I'm not sure if I'm going as doing the " tasman event " with the HSRCA at SMP full circuit
