Serviced the LC today. Filled it up slowly until it showed full, ran it, let it sit. Checked dipstick, was on low level, had taken close to 4ltrs by this stage. Added a bit more, ran it, let it sit, still only about half way. Cracked it and added the rest of the bottle, let it sit, dipstick showed full.

Went for a nice drive, checked it at home, dipstick tells me it is overfull. Is it a massive deal?

Around 3.8 litres for a LC/LJ 6 cyl sump.and add .8 litre for a Z30 oil filter.

Overfilling isn't recommenced, loosen the sump plug and drain the excess out if you can.

How far overfull?

If its around 5mm from the full line it will be no big deal.

Regularly used to put an extra half litre in my old LC without issue.

Well if my maths is correct its under half a litre (400ml) over full. Bout 5 or so mm seems right. I used a 5 ltr oil bottle.

I reckon if you go for a hard run then check the stick and it is on or near full and no foam then you will be right on the mark.

Well it was about 5 mm over after a big drive. No foam and oil super clean almost transparent.

Should be ok i hope. Never thought i'd say this, but i hope it burns the excess lol.

4 1/2 litres is about right for an oil change with small filter.

Nearly 5 with the big filter.

Wont cause you any problems.

It's a big Z30 filter. Should be close to 5ltrs. I did notice no more startup lifter tapping with new oil :)

It does not sound like you have any excess.

It doesn't sound like it, but it showed quite a bit on the dipstick, maybe even more than 5mm (my photographic memory is terrible). Will be fine though, thanks for the advice. As long as 5ltr's is not excessive.

Was just making sure it wouldnt explode!
