Hi all,
Question
Can I use an early model Comodore VB-VC master cylinder to replace the UC one,
as well as the annoying pressure equaliser?
Is in a UC hatch.
setup is disc front drum rear.
By process of elimination, the pressure equaliser was deemed to be at fault,
got another Torana equaliser, was supposed to be a LX one, but still locks rear wheels, time to go it.

Yes you can use the Commy master
Its the same as used on 8/79 UC on
However you need to either modify or replace the booster with the UC one as the mount pattern on the Commy master is diagonal

I was looking at a booster and master cylinder that is for sale,
do you know if there is anything else I wold need, if I use a commodore booster and cylinder?

UC is metric threads and Torana is imperial
Otherwise it should be a bolt up job if you have a late UC booster and master

I'm converting my LX to discs all round and I'm looking for a suitable replacement master cylinder that will bolt up to my brake booster (SL/R dual diaphragm). I'd also like to remove the proportioning valve from the side wheel arch and have a master cylinder incorporating the proportioning valve.
I'm very doubtful but do PBR make replacement master cylinders for the A9X? That would be the ideal solution as it would bolt straight onto the booster.

PBR did make a few A9X cylinders
They are no longer available however
They were diagonal mount the same as Commodore,Falcon<Valiant etc.
So they wouldn't bolt straight to your booster
The only way to get the later style master is to mod the booster to suit

I am in the process of changing the M/C to get rid of the separate prop valve and make it look nicer.
I did the mod slightly differently to make my own 'A9X' vacc booster and M/C as shown.
The vac booster is a commodore one with Torana pushrod. I had the UC torana vacc booster housing also but I chose to use the commodore one as the metal seems to be a lot nicer on the commodore ones and I wanted to HPC coat it.
The only difference between the commodore and Uc torana housings is the studs are metric on the commodore one but the spacing is the same.
This M/C is a ford one which I polished and I have the parts to make it the same as an A9X on internally.
Someone told me you can now buy billet alloy reservoirs for these M/C's now - anyone know where from?
