i have just ordered some door rubbers and a tin of rubber magic spray for my lj.

Rarespares just got back to me and said that they can't send the spray as it is dangerous goods.

Is this spray really necessary or is there another product that will do the same job and i could source locally.

The nearest rares store is 900 klm away.

cheers Rodney

Yeah RR are real enthusiast guys, telling you what to use when their "product" is not available (even if they are the forum sponsors... )

Soapy water in a spray bottle???

Thin smear of kero/baby oil/vaso?

Canola spray?

Is it really necessary???

Doubt it.
Never needed anything to fit body rubbers.

Rubber Magic is silicone based (AFAIK) and is supposed to penetrate and soften the rubber.

I didn't need to use any Rubber Magic on my new Rare Spares 2012 vintage RH LJ 2 door seal, however I used a whole can of the stuff on the hard to close1996 vintage door seal and it made bugger all difference.

ok ,hopefully the new door seals won't  need this spray,i guess the spray may be a carry over from the old seals.

if i have any issues i will try a can of silicone  spray. thanks for the advice fellas

cheers Rodney

Yep Dave's spot on.

The new version of Rare Spares door rubbers providing the rubbers are installed properly and your door adjustment is correct you won't need anything.

I can have my doors only 2 inches away from the door jam and they shut with an effortless push beautifully.

cheers

I was gonna try soaking some old but new RS ones in armourall or similar, drench them with it and leave them sealed in plastic bags for a while.
