I got a head for a friend of mine and it has some major port work done, wondering what it is.

Numbers say:

7420081

D154

Thanks.

Hi Terrible One.

The number you quote is a 179 casting & the date code reads 15th April 1964.

The 179 head is almost the same as a 186 head, same combustion chamber & valve size & rocker studs. Originally they had 1 less hole in the front face , where the lower thermostat housing bolts on, to suit the early (smaller) housing.

Dr Terry could you please post up all the casting numbers, this could make this a sticky and make it easier for everyone to ID heads.

Hi Guys.

This is a standard 186 head, same as above with the extra water hole that I mentioned.

Is it possible that either of these heads were Yella Terra? I understand that they modified Holden heads and sold them as YT, is this correct?
