I did see that. Just wasn't a set size. From 920mm to 905mm is a bit variable?

Has anyone got a none collapsed shafts to measure?

Knock the plastic pins out and stick a nail through, then measure it.

Well I can now confirm. Standard length is 910mm or maybe 35 1/2 inches?

This is from lining up the holes to the Centre of the hollows.

I am going to try hot glue to replace the nylon.
I have heated up the shafts with the map gas just enough to melt the hot glue. Then forced it in the top hole until it drips out the bottom. Also keep topping it up as it cools as it will drip out if to hot.

Thanks for your info, think I will knock out my pins and check if they have sheared

If I need to I think aluminium filler rod could be a suitable replacement

The pins don't knock out. There is no holes that go through the inner shaft.

I just pulled the 2 sections apart To see what I was dealing with. The pics above will explain what is inside.

Aluminium filler rod might be a bit to strong. Also not sure how you will force it in there?

Hot glues works and has set it in place with no movement. And if it was to be hit it would collapse with no issues at all.

sorry to change so many times.

just got home and rechecked the length. as 910mm  doesnt equal 35 1/2 inches.

it is confirmed  910mm (factory) length.or 35.8 inches. total length.

that extra 4 mm would take the pin well off center to the hollows.

ill photo the nylon piece if i i haven't thrown it out.showing where the pin was, it was pretty much spot on center making it 910mm

First pic is the piece of nylon that is left in the groove after you separate the upper and lower shafts.
The circle is where the nylon pin shears off from it. If you square it up the shear pins are pretty close to center of the hollow.

2nd pic is the shafts set with the shear pin holes to the center of the hollow then forced hot glue around from the shear pin holes.
I've given it a strength test today and it works well.
