did a search and found previous post, very useful but have a question

first time I have used this stuff

Is it acceptable to spray top coat on to this primer surfacer?

Or do I need to under coat with some thing?

I don't need to fill as I have blocked the 408 back and filled then applied more primer to get surface

I am using acrylic as final coat

I have acrylic primer and a Parafill 2 pack

Putting 2k top coats over 408 is fine, I do it everyday.

Never tried acrylic though, I would be inclined to parafill it first.

On that note how old is the tin of parafill? Protec hasn't made 443 parafill for about four years.

Cheers

Hey bomber, another question

can I use knifing putting on the 408?

if so do I need to scuff the area and hollow first?

You can use any polyester filler over the epotec.

So your regular bog, or a 2 part "knifing putty" like U-pol Dolphin glaze or Hot Shot.

I wouldn't recommend using the old acrylic "knifing putty"s to my worst enemy, once you try the 2 part stuff you will never go back.

For large areas scuff it, for filling pin holes or train tracks I just have the area scuffed. No need to hollow anything out.

Basically what i do once a car is in Epotec is go over it with the orbital with some 120, this quickly shows up where needs filling. Obviously I do ALL of my polyester work over epotec, no bog on bare metal.

As far as little train tracks and pin holes and the like go, these will show up as darker spots, just go ahead and wack the Hot shot/Dolphin glaze straight over them then block it back with a hard block and some 120-180.

Cheers.

Hi guys
Just wondering what I should do after I use the Epotec 408 primer I'm not worried about a perfect finish so I won't be using any fillers.
Should I rub it back before I put the 2 pack on I'm using polythane 625 any info would help thanks in advance

Rub it back if it's out of its recoat window (cured). Or put your paint on after the 408 has flashed off real good. What grit sandpaper depends on how much of a "not worried about a perfect finish" you want. 400 - 600 wet for a solid colour to be on the safe side. 800 for a metallic. Can go courser if you don't care, however you will run into sand scratches
