Howdy All,
Was wondering approx. how much it will cost to change the diff ratio in my 9 inch. It's going from 3.0 to 1.0, 3.5 to 1.0. Diff itself is fine it's just that I want more acceleration from a standstill. This price is based on myself removing the centre & taking in to an expert to change the gears etc. The LSD seems to be working fine as well.

First thing - you will obviously be up for the cost of a new gear-set. Depends what you buy: brand new or 2nd hand, and many brands to choose from. (At a guess, a decent set of new gears could be $250 - $400).

Once you have the new 3.5's, from past experience I reckon you should expect to pay anywhere between $100 - $200 for someone to swap them over and setup the centre for you. Maybe even cheaper... I'm not actually sure if LSD's are harder to setup than mini spools etc.

I think the gear sets were around $300 - $310 from JPW in Melb when I priced a set, As for getting them swapped over, not too sure but I think LXCHEV is on the money, make sure you check out the LSD clutches as they are easier to change while the diff is already out rather than having to pull it back out later on. Even if it is a little worn I think it can be tightened up by the use of shims????? Anyone?

Les
