Hi all, I am currently trying to get an LC/LJ back onto the dirt circuit track and have broken a brake line at the caliper, then made a fair mess of trying to remove the seized nut... Long story short im looking for a replacement caliper.

I have no idea what is standard, aftermarket, sitting in the corner of the shed, removed from an old hillman etc on this car, and I cant seem to find much on the Girling calipers.

Will any LC/LJ caliper fit and do the same job? Are these a common caliper amongst any different makes or models from the same vintage?

Cheers.

Cheers guys. Trying to upload photos/link from photobucket but struggling!

Hope I don't have to find a caliper from a 4 pot and nothing else, that sounds bloody tricky out here!

I'm going to tentatively say that Girling were used on some 6 cylinder Toranas and even some 'H' series cars.
I just don't like betting on Daves info, he's normally correct.

If they are off a Holden then I'll also go with the HK model.

Looking at your pics Sam you appear to have STD LC/LJ discs so a Girlock caliper (or pair) from an LC or LJ 6cyl or HK, T, G Holden is what you need.

Agreed

Never actually seen them marked Girling before

Must have been during the transition when Girlock took over in the mid 60's

Great, thanks guys!

Was dreading trying to find a Torana specific RH Girling caliper when I was struggling to even find anything about them.

Looks like that will open it up much more, greatly appreciated!

Yeah I'm pretty sure the ones we took off my 69 6 Cyl 4 door (now Dave's Rat) were Girling.

Did you end up using them Marty or did you go for a more period correct set?

I think Dave deliberately let this one past him just to prove he's human. Lol

Hey James. I'm with Neil on this one mate. I've never seen HK,T,G or LC/LJ 6 cyl calipers branded as Girling.

I figured, as did Neil, that they would most likely be early HK vintage as Girling and AP Lockeed joined forces in Australia around the mid 1960's to form Girlock.

All good Dave, I was really just pointing out the fact that fortunately for the rest of us you always have the correct information to help us all out.
