Hey Guys, i've just replaced my second ice ignition coil in about 10 hours of motor use. It was a second hand kit so no warranty and want to try and find the source of the coil killer.

It has a long coil lead (about 1.4m) as i have hidden it out of the engine bay under the gaurd. Mike at Ice said he wasnt keen but doesnt think its the end of the work, i will be moving it closer when i figure out a spot that is close to the dizzy and not visible. I was was recommended not to put it inside the car.

Are Coils that water proof (taking water of the tyre)

Motor is earthed through the box to the chassis as battery is in the boot. Was recommended to run a strap back to the battery. my Sparky assures me this is unnecessary as he has test the earth and it starts and turns over really well.

Im thinking maybe module itself. I was going to send it back if its shits another coil after i try remedy any potential issues.

No the coil is not waterproof ...

I would check the resistance across the terminals, between negative terminal and secondary post, and also the secondary wire to the dizzy, check also the button cap inside the distributor, too high a resistance in those guys can be an issue.

Does the coil get very hot? If so it might indicate a problem with the module giving excessive dwell at low rpms. I'd be tempted to send the whole lot back to ICE for testing before any more parts get damaged.
