Hi All,
I'm sure this would have been covered but I can't find my answers.

Can someone please help me with the following on a Holden 6 cylinder in an LC
What temp should it run at?
What temp thermostat should be in it?
What temp should the hermo fans come on at?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Hi Grant operating temp should be around 180-190 deg c  and the correct thermostat is 82 c 180f .thats what i have in the LC

thermo fans should be cutting in around 190  as the stat takes another 5-6 odd deg before its open completely.

i had my thermo 12'' fan cutting in at 190 with the std 2 core rad and never had any probs,

cheers Maz

Thanks.
It's got a 180 thermostat now, and to be honest I have no idea when the fans kick in but I will be checking the sensor.
I have just had the whole car rewired and am slowly sorting out some other small issues.

I had an issue on the weekend that led back to a leaking thermostat housing gasket. Found the two bolts holding it in we're only holding by about three threads and one pulled out.
Now I'm just checking everything to make sure it's correct.

I appreciate the response.

Cheers Grant

I have a 82 start opening thermostat, fully open at 88, and thermo cut in at 95 and cut out at 90( NC temp switch). Pretty std for holden six
Those figures are metric

Depends on the combo from what I gather, but those numbers should get you close.

I run a 170f thermostat, but 180f would be fine.

My 202 like the temp around 180-190f. I get worried when temps go above 195f (this doesnt happen often). 180 seems about right TBH.

My std 180 runs a bit hot in summer. Up to 210. I fitted a 160, now gets up to 180, but has more power. I use the 180 over winter and the 160 over summer. I made a rubber gasket so don't chew through sheets of gasket paper.
