The Aussie Racer crew go to Mt Baw Baw for their first tarmac rally - round 1 of the Australian Tarmac Rally Championship.

This is a great insight from first timers for anyone who might be interested in giving this form of motor sport a go.

Their Mt Baw Baw rally starts at 1:40 into the episode.

Not sure Grant.

Would love to go down to Vic for the Great Tarmac Rally in October, but can't really take Tom away from work at the moment - it is the last year of his apprenticeship.

For those interested, have a look at the web site below. You don't need a competition car - you can enter the 'Tour' and drive the same stages as the competition cars. Last year we completed The Great Tarmac Rally with the Tour group. The rally starts at Marysville and travels through Camberville and Cumberland Juction and includes the Reefton Spur. With a 95% corner ratio along its 37 km length, the road follows ridge-crests which look out over the Upper Yarra Catchment Basin, and is surrounded by alpine forest. it is a lot of fun, described as a 'spirited drive' behind a pace car. 210 kilometers of rally stages plus transport sections, so plenty of driving over two days.

Tarmac rally is friggin awesome fun, bloody dangerous, far more than circuit, but great fun.
Very rewarding when you get to the end of a long event.
Very punishing on the car and they are requires to be cery versatile. Short tight twisty stages, then could be doing long high speed stuff.
Im making the trip east to do high country in november

last year i had my entry in for targa high country. i pulled out but they still have my money as a deposit which is  transferable.- I was doing the tour leg

it all got a bit crazy as both participants need a license and the car was really not sorted

they have a new category now which is one step up from the tour i believe.

Ozy what car are you running

Steves got the floor plate on the passengers side. Steve you should put up  a  couple of photos of the inside of your car it's got all the bits which are well thought out for this type of event.

  • kill button on the steering wheel
  • floor plate for passenger
  • terra trip
  • 2 x area for spare wheels

It's a really unique car and well built

MMMM may need to ring targa up and see if i can chase up my deposit for the event paid last year  and finish paying and then just enter the car in the tour again.
