Hi all   I have been looking for a product to remove existing light scale rust inside the doors and just wondering what peoples thoughts and experiences were with this product, after completely cleaning and drying out the inside of the doors  I  was looking to pour this into the door and let it seep into the seams and crevice's, I like the idea of it because apparently you don't need to rinse it off, once dry I was looking at giving it a coating of POR 15 or KBS to completely seal it up. (how does KBS compare to POR15 )

Cheers

Are you sure you can leave this?you might have to neutralise with water ,I think it's phosphoric acid and it will just keep eating away if not neutralised.

just going by the application instructions

•apply Ranex & allow to dry completely in order to penetrate deep rust & to leave surface in a suitable condition for
painting with an oil based primer. as Ranex chemically destroys rust it is not necessary to use rust inhibiting paints. Zinc
rich paints are not recommended.

Ï was thinking along the same lines as you at first but it does say to allow to dry completely

But it also says wipe or wash off after completion,I have used this inside doors and when it dries it leaves a white residue behind and the process may be worse than the remedy if not neutralised, just wash the doors out afterwards and make sure they are nice and dry and then maybe use some Lanotech to treat or paint.

water only dilutes it and does not neutralize it .  Its already got water in it

I've put 1 litre of the stuff in 35 litres of water to dip car parts in , it worked well even after leaving it for six months.

what i do when putting it on panels is put it on , let it dry , leave it for 24 hours and then use more of it to clean excess off , drying it with another rag as i go

Agree^^^.

Dilute the Ranex at a ratio of 1 part Ranex to 10 parts water, 1:5 for heavier rust or apply neat for really stubborn rust. Wash out with plenty of clean water and blow dry seams and crevices etc with dry compressed air.

I finally called Bondall today and spoke to a Tech adviser, i told him what I was looking to pour some in the inside of a door to eliminate any rust and hopefully neutralise any rust that might be occurring between the door frame and door skin that wasn't visible, he said to be sure all dirt and rubbish was removed by using vacuum cleaner,  small wire brush , sand paper and finally compressed air, then pour a small amount into the door undiluted and tilt door back and forth to be sure all areas you want treated have a good coating and then allow to sit so the rust buster can work its way into the seem. No need to remove as it wont eat into the metal.  Rust buster wont prevent rust from reoccurring so it then has to be painted over once it has dried (at least 24 hours) with an appropriate paint that isn't rich in zinc  you only need to wipe it off is using to remove rust stains and when using on very light surface rust.

Wonder why zinc will react with it?
