I noticed a small crack on the drivers side out rigger mounting point (inside of chassis rail). Am thinking about leaving it for the time being and fix it later on as the front end is already bolted up. Im concernered that it might get worse?
Are these mounting points exposed to any kind of force like twisting from the engine power?

The major forces would be:
- the crossmember trying to rotate in the chassis in the opposite direction to the engine rotation.
- the crossmember trying to rotate the outriggers upwards under braking.
- various forces in most directions from cornering and bumps in the road.
If you have cracking there now it can only get worse unfortunately...
Has anyone else had this problem??
Slightly off topic, but a very well built hatch competing in tha Targa here in NZ had brake vibration problems, similar to a warped disc, which was finally cured by solidly mounting the whole front crossmember to the chassis. Apparently the whole crossmember was moving...

mine had corroded in behind the stiffener/crush tube in this area so i had to tack weld the circular stiffener back into place.easy while the crossmembers not there but youll wreck the bush if trying to do it in position.

Left hand side and ran through one of the holes where the sway bar is mounted. Has been plated and welded but will eventuallylook at getting another cross member to do up.
When I bought the car the front was too low for me and you could see where the sway bar u-bolts had hit the road - most likely over a speed hump. Thought that may have been what started the crack - the left was damaged and the right was fine. 308 (now 355), manual SS.
