Looking for some help, my son Daniel is second year apprentice and wants to continue with the repairs to his car. We are looking for an experienced person who can spend ONE day a month ( sat/sun) working and helping him, giving him advice and knowledge on how to do things correctly on the require repairs. Needs to be someone with experience and knowledge, happy to pay for their time . It needs very little rust repairs, but requires rear quarter repairs/replace, front guards to be fitted and engine cleaned up (holes have been welded) and little floor work. I am sure that Dan has the experience to do some of this work but he just needs help and guidance. If you know someone or you are happy to provide this help, please inbox me to let me know thanks Wayne

G'day Wayne

Silverdale is a bit out of the way for most as it is near Waragamba Dam and is also where my SS came from

Good luck to Dan with the rebuild

Barry

Hopefully this is readable. Couldn't see text on some 'devices'. (Fark I hate that word but not as much as the word 'coin' when referring to money. )

A bit better but still shit on my phone.

If it's advice & guidance, I may be available, you've seen my cars & know what I do for a living. Been burned trying to help people who have proceeded to smear my name, so I will never undertake any kind of panel work for anyone on these cars again, but I can assist someone who has some idea of what they're doing. Contact me through FB & we can take it from there if you like.

Thanks Guys, he is looking for someone that he can work with, give some advice and help where it is needed, he his happy to do all the mundane stuff.

Looking at what needs to be done

Rear Quarters need to be inspected to see in they can be fixed or need replacing, and to help and guide along the way with whatever needs doing, whether its repairer or replacing

Engine bay - needs a tidy up, some of the holes have been plated and I am sure that he can do that

Passenger Inner Guard, very very untidy from some previous repairs by old owner, new Inner guard has been brought, again will need some advice and help with replacing this

Fitment of New guards again some advice and help along the way.

We are not looking someone to come do all the work, yes there maybe some work involved in the process.

And for the ONE day a month well Dan does not earn big $$$$ and works most weekends at Supercheap to help with his wages and he wants to makes sure that he can pay someone for this to happen.

He does not and will not complain about the job as he wants to most of the repairs himself.

Whats he doing for his apprenticeship, Wayne?

Works for Busways doing body repairs / manufacturing panels etc on the Buses , his Tafe course covers all the all aspects of Vehicle Manufacturing , Buses , Trailers etc

Get skilled to become a bus, truck and trailer mechanic with this course. It provides you with the technical skills to safely and effectively, replace and repair bus and vehicle body panels and fitting, install and fit out components for buses, trucks and trailers. Also learn to assemble, install and test hydraulic system kits, and overhaul air braking systems and components.

So would that fit broadly into the truck body building trade?

Not all, only a couple of recent ones. I've helped a couple of good friends with some award winning cars in the past with no issues. They set realistic goals, were clear on their expectations, what the cost would be & were more than happy with the results I delivered.

Also, they respected my skill & experience in the trade enough to listen to advice I gave them.

The alternative is to send the car to a shop that specialises in restoration & they may get their car back in a year & from my experience will fork out minimum $15-20K for a street car finish. For show standard, $30K+.

Its amazing the amount of people out there who think q paint job is worth 2k, so you do a 5k job for them, then they say its not good enough cause they wanted a 10k job....
