I've noticed the SBC fuel pump leaver has a different shape compared to the Holden red/blue/black motor pumps, has anyone checked the actual contact patch on the pump lever after running the Chev pump?

Edit : correct font colour.

Just a bit concerned that if the actual contact patch is not ideal that it might cause the cam eccentric to fail particularly with additional pressures of boost referencing the diaphragm

Thanks for confirming that.
On small block Chev's the fuel pump is actuated by a pushrod that makes contact at the end of the pump lever. Was just interested to know where the actual contact point on the pump lever is when driven off the Holden 6 cam. The blue motor pump contact patch starts at about 5mm from the end of the pump lever and goes down approx 12mm.

I've had one previously, but have had no problems with a std pump on the same motor.
Maybe if you are reving to 6800 rpm down the length of conrod straight and have a high fuel demand it may help, but on a street car you'd be lucky to maintain those sort of revs for more than a few seconds and therefore the std pump is adequate from my experience atleast.

I have only used a GOSS factory spec replacement so cannot comment.
Will try to remember to get some picks of some different sbc pumps that have been used in sixes tonight.
But.... If you get the chance bomber. I have read lots of conflicting reports regarding SBC pumps on the mighty holden 6.

To be honest I don't see the need for a sbc pump on a street driven red motor.
I agree, they aren't really necessary but they are half the price (or less) than the Holden pumps...
