Hi all......Im asking lots of question lately about engine stuff so bear with me...Im just trying to get up to speed with the latest on engine stuff.

What I need to know is.... electronic distributors for a 304.

I need one as my engine didnt come with one but as you all probably know there is heaps of different kinds on ebay ranging from $56.00 to $600.

Im not looking for top end racing stuff I just need a dizzy that will do a good job running the 304 carbied donk I have.

I have a brand new one in a box of parts I got but Im pretty sure its one of those crappy Pro Comp ones...(looks like those cheap ebay jobs) with a blue cap.....so Im not even going there with that one.

Any suggestions on a reasonably priced distributor that you may be using or know of as being up to the job.

post away lol

Cheers

Al

Al if you dont want to buy an MSD dizzy next best would be a factory Bosch Electronic one they seem to be very popular afaik they are a very good dizzy

Throw that Poocmp straight in the trash can
even better see how much distance you can throw it

Been running a MSD one for quite some time with out any issues. Only reason I didn't go with the ICE one is I cant stand the name ICE.

Just grab a WB or VC-VL example, grab the coil if it is still on the car or you'll have to use an aftermarket one. You can get them re-graphed to suit your particular engine. Can also use the points dizzy and leads if you like.

Performance Ignition in Nunawading (Sth East Melbourne).
They make scorcher distributors, essentially new Bosch type to suit your application. Excellent product and service.

My post is missing the word CAP between "points dizzy" and "and leads".

Jeez I tell you what.....I have phoned all the local wreckers today trying to source an original Bosch electronic dizzy with absolutely no luck....not even the commodore shop had one on the shelf.....the only ones they had where staying in the engines that they were already in.

Im happy to just get a second hand bosch......I cant justify the cost of the upper market ones for my build...$500.00 + odd dollars can buy a lot of other stuff I need to get it on the road.

Im posting in the wanted section on this forum if you just happen to have one for sale.

Good info thanks

Al

Al, the last two I've bought came from swap meets, less than $100 each in the last 2 years. Try Greg at ClassicOz as well.

the 80's and 90's Bosch electronic dizzy is one of the best ever made for the Holden v8

for a brand new dizzy MSD and ICE are the way to go...bang for buck MSD gets my vote they do a "ready to run" one for about $450

everything else is crap
