LX Brake upgrade

Hi guys. Im wanting to upgrade my brakes and convert to commodore pattern. My budget is not up to a Hoppers kit or CRS drop stubbs, so I'm thinking of the following.
CRS kit (DB2 $180) allowing fittment of HQ-HZ calipers to torana stubbs with DBA blank rotors drilled to commodore pattern.
Does anyone see a problem with this set up?
Also what calipers would be best, and how difficult is it to drill and re-stud blank rotors.
Will standard offset commodore rims bolt up without hitting anything.

How come you want to go commodore? I've sort of learned there isn't much point changing to commodore as a great majority of the rims are the wrong offset, why not HQ or ford? I think earlier ford falcon offsets are pretty close.

Any reputable engineering shop could drill the pattern for you
As Aidan said Commy wheels can be an issue

commy wheels are all wrong as well as the center bore size will seaze on a commy wheel.
save your self the heart ache and go with torana, HK-T-G, or what have you.
more to the piont select your wheels first with the correct offset and go from there.
other than that budget for custom wheels.

Was looking at commodore pattern for choice of rims. I also have a VL turbo BW diff (with brakes) to be shortened, and was of the opinion if I shorten this enough for Hq offset, the calipers would hit the shocks. So thought it easier to stick with commodore offset front and rear.
It seems to avoid problems, Id be better off increasing rear track slightly (not a problem as I have A9X flares) and go for hq pattern/offset front and rear.
Its a shame, as nice commodore rims are readily available and reasonably priced

If you don't mind 17's or bigger then they are not really a problem IMO.Problem is the offset brings the rim too close to top ball joint & c/arm on smaller vt 16's.VS (more offset)might work but I haven't tried them.

On my car I have 330mm brakes & 18in vt rims,everything actually sits inside the rim.Or you could get load carrying spacers made.Main reason people try commodore wheels is a bigger range in choices.

IF you got the diff with brakes, go the commie pattern. I have actually found a few wheel companies make off the shelf rims in 25P offset (which is pretty much excaltly what you need for the front)..bit cheaper than custom made wheels

Shane at Exleys Tyres in Willetton tried to sell me some wheels that would have suited you Aidan
Same as Dave has for his hatch
Not sure if he still has them though
Perfect offset for your car in commy pattern
Ask Dave for a look at them I can't remember what they were
