The current housing bolts up but has the starter motor allowance on the drivers side.
Can you get a starter motor to bolt to the drivers side to use the current setup
Or I cut get a section cut from the drivers side of the housing and welded in the passengers side the fit the starter in the original location.
Or any other ideas.

My 2c- a lot of dicking around.
I would wait for your trans bloke (or find another one) and get him to swap over the bell housings and input shafts. Then you'll have no question about stuff lining up and meshing properly.
Would give you a tiny bit more room in the trans tunnel area with the trans not 20-25mm back. Got a tailshaft for it yet? Would suck if you needed to modify it just to get stuff to fit.
There are sandwich plate kits to relocate the starter to the left side of the block but that's a fair bit of cash for something that may not work/fit with the 5L block?
OR...
Found this idea which bolts to the block- no plate. NZ bloke. Uses a Toyota starter to get the solenoid at the top and the proper reach.

yeah ive also just noticed the converter doesnt sit flush. The locaing nub sits aprox 15mm proud of the mounting bolts. Bloody annoying it will be sitting there for 3 weeks while ive got time off to get things done.
I have a 3" shaft that i will get cut down once its in and i have a measurement.

Bugger.
Surely there is someone who can swap the bits for you before Chrissy? Good luck.

I'm sure for the 1/2 day MAX it'll take to fix it that he'd do it to avoid screwing over a customer.

ive tried to call him on friday and saturday but rang out and he is from Victoria and im in WA. Hopefully he calls tomorrow to discuss options but i would say the input shaft bell housing as converter all need to be changed which is a big pain and he will probably want it sent back.

Spoke to a builder today and he doesnt seem to think i can fit the 4l60e in my lx sedan. He said the turbo 700's are smaller. Can anyone confirm wether a 4l60e from a VT will fit?

what about the cooler hoses, any fitment issues as they comeout 90deg rather than on a 45. Or did you put elbow fitting on the case

yeah thats what the gearbox builder suggested. Being the 1 piece case he said it can be built the same intenally but has a smaller overall size and smaller shifter link 25mm vs 75mm i believe. Did you buy a 4 speed shifter or adapt the 3 speed shifter. I currently have a 3 speed quicksilver and bot sure whats incvolved to get the extra click out of it
