Hey guys I may have to do a little guard rolling on my rears. My plan of attack is to get the rubber mallet out of the shed and lightly tap up the guards. I am thinking that using a heat gun on low heat cautiously to heat up the paint as I hit the lip up to stop paint cracking.

try and find a length of waterpipe to fit between tyre and guard and gently roll car back and forward with the aid of a mate as you move the pipe around... remember slow and gentle

sounds like a good idea. Sorry if this sounds silly, but why would you need to move the pipe aswell, wouldn't the pipe move with the tyre as it pushes the guard up? I'll obviously be supervising mr pipe anyhow.

Oh and are you talking about putting the pipe on an angle, hence applying pressure to the lip and not actually between the lip and tyre?

i think he means as we used to jack up the car and then lower it with the pipe in place then drive the car a little forward and back whilst guiding the pipe around.
if you not sure of it leave this one alone.

pipe should be larger than say 50mm and long enough to be angled from the ground up into the inner guard.

just keep your limbs well away from the guard/pipe area eh!

you can use a wooden baseball bat as well, easier on your paint than a bit of waterpipe.......

I agree with Makka, I have seen a guy roll the guards with a baseball bat and it worked out well - of course he knew what he was doing and had done it before.
He finished off the inside of the guards with a panel beaters hammer and dolly to completely fix the inner lip. And as Makka stated have a mate there to roll the bat along with the movement of the car.

I am not saying I would use this method myself as I don't have the confidence.

Cheers

i have heard of the baseball bat treatment B4 and I reckon i will give it a go on rubys guards before I cut them to accomodate flares. I may try both bat and pipe. Ruby my little guinea pig girl. I will put pics up when I do it. dont hold ya breath tho, I have been gunna put the 253 in since the start of this year :fool:
