looks like my head gasket has gone as the temp climed a bit today in traffic.
checked it after a cool down and found light brown gunk in the water system. nothing in the oil as yet tho.
hoping i might get away with some chemiseal or the likes.

Hi Guys.

Don't jump to conclusions, it may not be blown. One of the best things about Holden 6 cyl engines, is that they have cast iron heads & the head gaskets are difficult to blow. There are many other reasons why it got hot & why it's got brown gunk in the radiator.

The best method of verifying a blown head gasket (if you believe it's into the cooling system) is a 'Chemical Test'. See a pro it does cost a lot.

Only 3 out 10 head gasket tests I carry out, are they actually blown.

Dr Terry.

ran hotter cause water was down, none present in zorst tho. thinken here water could not return from overflow due to brown gunk. brown gunk also present in overflow.
motor is alloy head RB30 (nissan 6).
oil is good.
temp fine after top up.

Sounds like another candidate for a reverse flush by removing engine block drain plug/plugs ?? Brown gunk........
