Hey Rory, I believe HDT had about 4 of these mate. I know one was around a few years ago as a turbo 6 setup, but the original shells are long gone as they were updated and made lighter.

Rory , what do you reckon about this , Seeing as i havent been able to get some one to paint the LH i have ! How would i go painting it up as a former raceing car , i could handle that as it wouldnt have to be that good and as i have finished the rest now its time for a paint and panel , Went to Rocky today and got some more parts for the torana , TREX

Looks surpisingly similar to the Le Mans car sketches. Wonder if there is a connection there? The Le Mans cars never happened, just ended up being LX lightweight hatches with welded in roll cages.

I'm only aware of there being one- ie, the one shown in the photo.

Ditto for me Monza.
It was around 1976 when Gardner turned up with the Corvair and stuffed Sport Sedans and the Toby Lee Series.
I delivered some slicks for it out to Ron Harrops place..pretty sure it was his baby at the time..he just started full time with MHDT under John Sheppard..Might drop a line to Oastler at AMC and get him to chase it up.

I dont recall there ever being more than one. I think Ron Harrop may have been given the task to make it work but by then it had been superceded by the opposition (mainly the Corvair).

HDT had 4 LX 4 door shells and I know a couple at least were used for sports sedans. Only one was used in Group C

I'm sitting at home last night and i get a phone call. "Michael, it's Harry here, Harry Firth" hmmm now thats a call you don't get every day. Whilst I had hime on the phone I had some interesting questions answered. I asked about the Sports sedan for you. Apparently Harry wiped his hands of it, and it was Ron Harrops baby. He only remembers the one sports sedan. He had some interesting comments about the L34 race cars too and where they are today. I'll have to piece it all together with the other info I have and read the email he sent me, but it makes some of the cars out there around today look less than genuine.

lol, dunno I don't have much to offer. I spoke to him a few times in the past at events and we had him as a special guest at our nationals last year. I sent him an email with some questions ages ago, and out of the blue he calls me with some answers. He is a great old bloke, loves a chat to a willing ear, and as you can imagine, my ear was glued to the phone.

Thanks RED I was sure there was only one and it was definately Rons baby.
When H rang me about the LC he wouldnt get off the phone..loves a chat.
My thoughts exactly on the so called genuine HDT L34s out there at the moment.
Sorry Rexy, just saw your post...Had all those pics for years..just trip over them every now and then.
