I could be wrong but Commo is 7.5" crown wheel whilst the fraud product uses 7.8" & 8.6 in turbo xr's......

The Centre will interchange
However the gears won't
Splines depend on the critter... most are 28 spline especially if LSD

This stuff confuses the shit out of me... would love to get clarification
I bought a TrueTrac from Harrop for the "VL" diff in my Torana, the carrier diameter was too large and it fouled on the head of the pinion, so we needed to machine the pinion down. I was told that this was because my VL diff was actually a Borg Warner 75 rather than 78. But everyone says that Commodores are BW78.

Just done a bitsa diff vl housing,vn axles, pintara 4.11's with xr6 lsd slapped together by gearexchange.
My understanding is yes you can.A lot of it interchanges but basically most cars with b/w diff up to mid 90's easiest way to remember.Just remember some diffs have 25 spline axles or ford diffs have the chunkier gears.
vl n/a 6cyl 25spline,vl turbo & v8 also vn 28 spline,ford stuff usually 28 spline unless 1970's model like valiants then there are pintara/skyline...
truetracs, well most aftermarket centres require 'machining' if trying to fit with short gears.

But everyone says that Commodores are BW78.
Everyone is wrong. Aside from a couple of oddball models you'll probably never encounter all VK 1/2 to VS Borg Warner/BTR diffs are M75/0575 - its stamped on the crownwheel. Beyond that there's a bit more of a mix but few are M78 (mostly M75 and M80).
The myth seems to have originated due to the switch from 25 spline two spider centres to 28 spline 4 spider, but both are still M75. (You'll get shot down in flames if you try telling this to anyone on certain Commodore forums though).
As above M78 and M75 centres are the same size but the gears are slightly different.

Well that clears it all up then.
And R31 gearsets are also M75/0575?

Yep... R31's are 0575
As mentioned its marked on the crownwheel so you'd have to be a fair dumbass (commodore owner) to get it wrong
There are some rare M78's in Commodores... but hard to find
Most Fords were M78's ... but many are 25 spline and 2 pinion
I have a list from BTR as to whats what if you need to identify a diff

What's the one I pulled out of a 1993 XF 5spd? I think it is a 2.92:1, and it is LSD. I bought it for next to nothing, just for the brakes to put on an XY 9" that going in a HK.

Just looking at my Gregorys VS Commodore manual. I states the rear axle for the conventional type rear suspension is a BTR Engineering 78 Series Salisbury type

There are two XF centres Gene, 2.77 and 2.92 up. Not sure if both fit in VL.
Ok will find ratio

My list is EA on
But I think XF is 25 spline... so no idea why you'd fit that to a VL
