Media blaster. I stripped all the plastic bits and pieces on my car with one. The grille had 10 layers of paint on it, took it back to bare plastic then 2 pac'd it.
ok brad i have a portable sandblasting gun i use for metal parts with a fine sand so this should be fine??

I would start with the pressure turned right down beforehand and practice on something crappy first! Im pretty sure I ended up with the pressure turned up where I would usually have it in the end. Didnt hurt the plastic at all.
cheers mate

You could also consider using walnut shells. Super gentle on everything. A lot softer than sand or garnet.

Hi
I read an article on YouTube about getting paint off plastic with brake fluid - it worked for me.
Cheers

I used walnut shells to strip the paint off my shell. A little slower, but very gentle on the base, generates no heat either.
I bought mine here:

Just make sure you wear gloves with that stuff. It gets into your skin and then removes that too.

Pfffft.....skin is over rated.
And...oven cleaner with lye (if you guys have that kind there?) is great to remove anodizing from aluminum too...again, wear protection when using it though.

Lye (if you guys have that kind there?)
Over here we call that caustic soda, a.k.a. sodium hydroxide. It feels soapy, used in a lot of things here from cosmetics to oven cleaner and at industrial concentrations it'll lift the skin right off you, give you severe chemical burns, ulcerations, etc.

The stuff can take hours to kick in too. I heard when oven cleaner was first put on the market a lot of people (mostly women) got caught out thinking it was okay because they couldn't feel any burning sensation while cleaning so they kept at it without gloves all the while the NaOH was doing its magic seeping deeper into their skin. Of course the more concentrated the more painful it'll be sooner.
