Put some product similar to chemi weld in the GTR - the thermostat coughed open, blew pressure into the radiator - the recoverable cap let the fluid into the storage tank - then it spashed all over the engine bay.

it was a little bottle with what looked like a clear liquid and then what looked like a rust emlusion at the bottom - you shake the bottle and pour into the radiator - but it's not chemi weld - I just cannot remember the name.

It's ;left what looks like a white scale or calcification that has attached itself to everthing and anything under the bonnet and engine bay - to which I'm massively Pissssed to say the least.

tried mineral turps - wax and grease remover

any suggestions on cleaning will be appreciated

Would a light cut and polish get it off?

found the techinical data sheet - it's a sodium silicate.http://www.afcintern...Tite [TECH].pdf

gesus not the sandblaster

may give the cut with some compound . but that's going to be hard work around the lower chassis and rat trap

I will ring them up tomorrow as this matter will not be new - hopefully there is a chemical or a supplication which will neutralize the oxidation - if not I'll be devoed .

Some info about Sodium Silicates. Seems like it will be tough getting this stuff off your paint etc.

Try Nu Finish polish ,it's got a very slight abrasive in it ,it may help.

you could also try some Xylene.  Also known as the thinners for slate sealer. Nasty stuff but it moves just about anything. wear gloves and do it outside in fresh air.

Bit of an update, i rang a bloke who i know is a retired chemical engineer and he has said that a few things will remove it;

EDTA

chelin

A mixture of one of these with a soap product and BLOODY boiling  HOT water.

I have a test patch this morning and it's looking it can get it off albiet very slowly and a really good scrub.

so it's looking better than it did yesterday.

I know all about the product now and why it's used.

Ps no sandblaster needed
