Hello all..

I have the opportunity to pic up a very cheap TA Torana... but it really isn't what I am after (currently have a 2dr HQ which is a bit more my thing) but the TA is the right price.

I understand that it would be a big job, but what would be involved to convert the TA Torana to a LC-LJ front end (Firewall forward)?

I may have a donor 4dr LJ lined up that could be used to swipe parts from..

Any links or suggestions would be helpful..

Thanks,

Chris

I assume that you want to fit the longer 6-cyl LC/LJ front, not the 4-cyl LC/LJ, which are the same as the TA.

It's a huge job, because the firewall very different also.

IMHO it would be better to do a cut & shut thru the A-pillar & the floor under the driver's seat.

There are also minor differences in the rear suspension mount points.

Big job either way.

Probably easier to swap the side panels from the 2 door TA to the 4 door LJ.

You could leave it as is and stick a good four in it. Something like a 4AGE with a 20 valve head, 5 speed and a G142 diff from a RN20 Hilux.

Yeah fix up the 4 door with bits from the TA.

If you want a 2 door you can unpick the side panels and swap them, and move the B pillar.

Easier with a better end result.

I don't believe the OP stated if the TA is 2dr or 4dr. He did mention though that he has a 2dr HQ Holden.

The 2dr doesn't look too bad from this angle -

I like grandpa toranas but TA s a grandma torana

Perhaps you could leave as is and drive to crochet lessons or to the chemist to buy some adult nappies

What would be the point of grafting an LC/LJ front from a 4-door LJ (donor) to a 4-door TA ? You end up with the same thing !!

I agree Dr T, however, I was just stating an observation in relation to the OP's post.

Hi everyone

I have a TA 2 door, which I was going to use as a donor

It doesn't have any front, or rear suspension.

I might change my mine about it being a donor, and put a 4 turbo in it.

I was wondering if any one has bolted a different front, and rear end into a TA???

Example: would a Sigma, or Silva bolt in (would give me 4 wheel disc brakes etc).

I was going to put a 6 nose cone on it, and cut down a 6 bonnet to suit.

Cheers

Pete

Thanks all for your input..

It was a 2dr TA.. And after crawling in, on, over and under the TA... I've decided to give it a miss..

Would be a huge job.

Thanks again.. :-)
