Problem: Lc with 202. Crane cam fireball hi-6 ignition system
Connect the tach output wire to tach. Nothing
Connect a wire from -ve side of coil. Tach reads 2600rpm at idle. Same reading with 3 gtr dashes. Tried a cheapo after market one. Same thing 2600
Tried auto meter one while still on -ve side of coil. Nothing.
Connected it to tach out put. 650 rpm.
I tried 4 different resistors but they made no difference
So my question is how are you guys getting your geniune tacho working when using electronic systems?
TIA

when i got my wiring converted to run gtr
dash Aaron (sparky) asked if i was going to
use electronic dissy ,i said.. yeah later..so
he just mentioned the resistance wire for
points only gives out 8 volts and just
wired in another pink wire for when i go electronic.thinking maybe you will have to
do the same..

You need a Tach Adapter. Just make sure you pick the correct one for your ignition type: Points or electronic.
8910 is for points, 8920 is for electronic.

MSD's & Cranes only really need them with certain types of tacho's ie old Holdens!

Yep I used the msd tach adaptor on my crane hi6 to run the stock gtr tacho.
The msd ones look nicer than the crane ones too!
Bloody beauty. Good to know
