i have changed mine to toran stud patterndoes this mean the stud pattern can be changed aswell?

It is generally the same setup.
The spacer/oil seal is the same - UC/HQ-on/early Commonwhore.
Cheap and easy to get so really no need to do any machine work.
Been involved in a few disc conversions and this is definately the easiest way to go.
The spacer is a steel ring which sits between the axle retaining plate (where the bolts go thru) and the bearing.
