Hi All,

Could anyone please help me with getting an LJ front Girlock disc brake caliper assembly diagram, preferably an exploded diagram where I can see how all the bits and pieces "correctly" all assemble? including shims, spacers etc.
I've got the Girlock 6 cylinder type calipers, not XU-1 spec, I am going to fit the spacer kit to stop the squeaking I'm getting.

My 'old school' Father in law mechanic who is "almost" always right about all things mechanical seems to think he's got it right but I would like to double check all is as it should be.

Hey Neil,

No, I've already replaced the rotors for a decent DBA type though they were the standard thickness but the heat treated version, decent pads, it pulls up great.

I want to get rid of the slight squeak and double check the father-in-law put the calipers together correctly.

Thanks'

OK

That kits not much good to you then

All you will use out of it is the shim plates that go behind the pad

Theres no use using the longer bolts and spacer plates without the thicker disc

The orings aren't required without the plates

The 2 top shield plates might not fit the narrower caliper (but worth a try)

The 2 stub axles spacer plates were only used on Monaros not Toranas to centre the caliper over the disc

What your missing though is 4 pad pins to hold the pads in... and the R clips to hold them (numbers 2 and 3)

If you have squeaky brakes now and no pad shims... thats a common problem

Thanks Neil your a bloody legend!

Yeah I've got the new pins & clips and I was under the impression that all I needed was the shims to stop the squeak and now you've confirmed that.

Just out of curiosity, is that diagram from the LJ shop manual? is this something I can buy ?

Thanks' again !

Thanks again Neil,

I might just buy that one on eBay, if I'm lucky enough to be the highest bidder.
