Can anyone help out with this problem? Head lights were stuck on low beam and no amount of flicking indicator stalk would change them , however turned headlights on last night and surprise surprise they were on high beam . Now i cant get them to dip back down . Any suggestions before i start pulling things apart would be greatly appreciated.Cheers

Dattoman  I take it that would be the one on the indicator stalk , and if so can you still buy them ? or do i need to find a good second hand one . Cheers

May also be that stupid latching headlight relay under the bonnet?

In the LX the stalk "switch" is just a momentary earth for the high/low beam, grab a test light, remove the connector from the headlight relay and see if the white wire goes to ground when you pull up on the stalk, if so then the switch is working and the problem is more likely to be with the relay.

From memory those relays cost a small fortune, haven't priced one in a while but they used to be about ten times the price of your typical Hella relay?

Agree, I would do some fault finding first before blindly ordering parts.

I had the same issue with ours.

If they have been sitting for a while (years) the micro switch becomes sticky.

Ours came good with use.

Yeah it could be a loose wire in the stalk switch, mine was fixed easily with a soldering iron.

The switch (stalk) would be the first place to look, less likely to be the relay if the high beams are actually switching on at times. Sometimes the solder joints to the switch just need fixing.

I didn't muck around with the LX stork micro switch, went to Repco and purchased a new UC control stork and fitted new duel headlight relays. The whole lot cost me under $50.00 and 2 1/2 hours fitting and reconfiguring the wiring. There is a threat on the forum somewhere on the wiring configuring which is very easy to follow. At the same time I wired in the wipers and washers incorporated in the UC stalk switch assembly.
