
Rust converter

Has anyone used dioxydine before I have a Lc with surface rust and pitting on the roof it has no paint only rust any ideas on the best way to treat it so it never comes back

That will convert the rust, I used it back in the early 80's. But it's no good if left out in the weather or for a long time. Did you have a look at the following thread?

I have always sanded the rust off, wax and greased the panel, then de-oxidine, then metho, then wax and grease, then paint.

If you use rust converter, say the likes of rs1 for an example, clean it completely off after 24 hours wax & grease remove & epoxy etch the bare steel, MAKE sure that the epoxy etch primer has metal protection properties, sikkens ep & baslac both do. Otherwise you are wasting your time and money. Gary.
