My persistance paid off unfortunately Colin is committed for Fujitsu V8s and cannot make Speed onTweed but I am on for next year.
The email reads.....

"Dear Rory,
Unfortunately I can't be there as I have a Fujitsu V8 meeting at Mallalla
that weekend. We were really looking forward to it until I realised the dates clashed. Hopefully
next year.
Regards Col."

I can live with that! That's my man!!

A1,
I have parade in main street midday Friday so we will be there either Thursday night or sparrows Friday morning to get scrutineering over first..we have expanded the driving school out to franchises now so we might dump a manual Corolla and the missus want a MR truck to teach on..which just happens to be the new race car transposrter so we will either be with the trailer or race truck..

Chevy,
Peter Who?.(never a fan).Harry I know..Skaife is there..might give him a drive for the hell of it!!

yeah..me too..he slipped of my hero worship list years ago....about the time I realised he was human.

I wouldn't mind listening to what Colin Bond might have to say about things....Ron Harrop would be another person I would like to hear speak too.

Hey, that shouldn't make the rest of us victorians bad :tease: , I agree though, he's been in the decline in my books as well.

Older bloke at work has told me of a good story of when he was up on the mountain in the 70s as a kid, he was down the fence line and bond waved at him in a friendly manner while he was on a flyer...

Do me a favour...I was in that game for years. Go to ANY motorsport event that hosts the old heros...Bartlett,Jane,Beechey,Holden,Skelton,Gardner,Skaife Snr,Goss.Moffat. etc..walk up and ask a simple question...on a scale of 1 to 10...10 being the best...Brock....Bond..
lets run a poll...I already know the answer. That's my final say.
R

P.S. Shevvy,
Some of my best mates are Mexicans...Magee for instance.!

He's a hard man to catch, specially since he is the Clerk of the Course for V8 Supercars. Spose it a case of business before pleasure. I'm with you, one of the all time greats, great in any car on any surface. Always funny how he and Richards never seem to get much of the limelight. Inevitably two of Aus's great drivers (I'm counting Richards for us!).

And JR is without a doubt the nicest guy in motorsport closely followed by John Bowe.

Bond made Brock, he was employed by Firth as Bond's understudy.

John Bowe comes across as very arrogant. I've never had the opportunity to speak to him in person. Could of when he was running in the Nation's Cup.

Paul Stokell seems a bit spoilt. Can still remember the time the Monaro got round him at Wakefield and he got the sulks.

Closest ive come is watching bond in the rally car in the xu1 dvd! Im with R on this one, Bond is the guy!! Seems to me he does more for the sport than Peter does, all Peter does is get paid to rock up places. Most of the times its not enough!

Must say I do like the way that Bondy is putting something back into the sport that gave him so much. He's also Clerk of the Course for Bathurst each and every year (I think that's the word, the head honcho dude anyways).
