Which glue is best for glueing door rubbers to the body?

Recently did mine. Purchased neoprene cement and didn't hold very well. Ended up using Superglue Loctite 406.

Regards

Glad you asked the question Ray.  I am just looking at whether or not to do so with the doors of my WB ute.  I thought I read somewhere you should be careful as some adhesives will affect the rubber.

On another point, my ute had a combined pinchweld and seal on the door jambs but I don't think it is correct, looking at photos on the net I can only see pinchweld.  The parts manual only refers to windlace.  Anyone know which is correct? Cheers Ron

It's been years since I've had a HQ,(same as WB) but I'm sure it had pinchweld on its own, and the rubber seal was clipped onto the door.

Thanks Laurie, that's what I thought.  I'm wondering if the former owner had some sealing issued and just decided to seal both the door and the jamb.  Cheers Ron

On a side note, if a clip pulls out of the rubber on a door seal and you can't get another one in a hurry a couple of drops of super glue works well.

I can't see super glue being any good as it dries hard and probably break away with the opening / closing of the doors. I would think a glue which remains somewhat flexible would be better. I have tried contact adhesive but found that it didn't want to stick to the rubber very well.

Loctite 406 is a rubberised superglue.
Perfect for your application. Just wear glove or don't get it on u. The sh3t takes ages to wear off.

An urban legend that was going around a few years ago was of a lady who got up in the middle of the night and went to the fridge to get some eye drops, but picked up the bottle of 406 instead. I couldn't even imagine what that stuff would do to your eyeballs!

She'd most probably be blind I'd guess, but yes I've done plenty with 406, used to do second hand vp's ect all the time years ago. Clean well line up well & definitely don't get it on your skin & if you do get your fingers apart quickly. If you keep it in the top cupboard in the kitchen it lasts just as long as in the fridge. I certainly hope that's not true.
