Im in the process of pulling the 9inch out of my hatch as it has a bent axle.

It needs bearings and also has a bit of a whine so thought I would take it out and get the whole lot checked over.

Whats the best way to disconnect the handbrake cable from the 9inch?
Don't really want to take the brake shoes off to disconnect it from the back of the hub (or is there a way without removing the shoes?) Thought if I can disconnect the whole cable and just take it in with the diff, that would save some headaches. How does the cable disconnect from those brackets on the chassis rail just in front of the rear wheel arches each side?

Ok I found there was some clips there which were quite corroded and covered in crap. Looks like they hadn't been off for quite a while. Lots of CRC and persistance paid off.
