Does anyone here have a 90ltr gas tank in the boot of LH,LX,UC? (between wheel arches, up against the back seat)
I'm after the available space above the tank, below the parcel shelf, for speaker fitment.

Pics would be great too.......

Thanks,

Same here. 80L gas tank is all you can have isn't it Dick? I have the right sized one but I'm not entirely sure what size it is.

I've got one tank without brackets and I've got another lined up that I'm getting in a few days - a week. When I get my hands on it I will bolt it in, get pics etc. I wanna have an 8" Sub (or ideally larger) hanging from the parcel shelf with some kind of box, but I can tell you already that it will be very difficult to fit a box in let alone a sealed one with the correct dimensions.

Hopefully Devilsadvocate or some other person with an LH-UC on LPG can help you out in the meantime.

Keep in mind that it also depends on how you mount the tank (what brackets you use etc) as to how high it sits off that section of floor, and therefore how much clearance you have between the parcel shelf and the top of the tank.

Good luck, I'm interested to see what other people say as well, as I don't know if my plans are feasible.

I think the ideal option might be to have seveal small tanks like Aidan does in his hatch (can't remember what the tanks are out of - falcon wagon?). You would have a bit of flexibility in the install then... Heath I had a kicker 8" sub under the parcel shelf of my LC and was enough for my listening... I think a 10" sub would be necessary in a LX-LX-UC though. The box might need to be an strange shaped one to fit around the gas tank/s. I put a 10" sub in my LJ's parcel shelf but I needed to remove the boot springs and install gas struts.

I was talking to a panel beater about it a few days ago when he came up. Im looking into fitting one in the hatch and just putting a drop tank cover around it. He said the best bet is to cut the floor out and put a dish in to sit the LPG, but i dunno where the spare tyre would be best fitted. But he said put it 90 degrees to the front (in line with the rear axels) but they wouldn't you have to have the fuel cap on the side of the car not at the back which i would rather??

thanks ryan

Hey Ryan, I've already done it in a Hatch,
was after pics etc for a 4 dr.

Have pics if you need 'em.
I went for a Falcon wagon tub, beneath the floor to give me usable hatch area. 90ltr tank, no spare...although mine is behind driver's seat atm.

The donut LPG tanks might be an option in a sedan...

Hi Flamenco, do you have a photo of those please, I am considering going LPG after my EFI is running. :) Of course I need to get a quote first.

Cheers

What makes you say that Sean? I think it would be virtually impossible to do a neat and practical setup with one in the back of a sedan, but I'd like to be proved wrong.

BTW yesterday I got all my LPG gear. I can provide photos of brackets etc if need be. This type sits hard up against the back seat, but this particular one isn't really how I'd like it...

Gonna weld a replacement bracket setup if possible, mount it hard against the floor and back seat so i can still trim my boot and fit a decent stereo in the parcel shelf. Haven't checked any clearances yet though coz I haven't put it in.

What makes me say it that my friend (who you met with oldn64 a few swap meets ago!) is using one in his holden (although not a torana). I'll try to grab a few pics of the donut tank Herne - I'm not sure if it can be installed on an angle in the LX's boot floor though - it is just an idea at this stage!

Yes, he is planning on mounting it closer forward in the floorpan of the panno isn't he, I have a feeling he has a bit more room in that vehicle.

I just don't think they are small enough to fit in the limited space of an LH-UC boot... on the other hand, you may be right and they may be a great option. Has anyone explored this idea?

There's more than just one size!
